Week 1

By barb56

This is the end of the first week of the new year. I’m going to try to keep a journal of my craft activities weekly for the entire year. We’ll see how it goes!

I’ve been knitting non-stop since Christmas. I haven’t had a lot of time, but when I do sit down, I knit. My girls and the d-i-l got socks for Christmas. (I was wanting to make the guys some too, but I just ran out of time.) So I’m finding I’m still in the knitting mode and I have been knitting more (yup, you guessed it) socks! I have one made from *old* off-white yarn with the heel and toe made out of some striped yarn that I made a pair out of for my daughter, Cynthia. It’s really cute. I’ll probably start the other one this evening.

I’ve also knit a pair of leg warmers from a new book that daughter Karen gave me for Christmas. It’s called “Oneskein, 30 QUICK PROJECTS TO KNIT AND CROCHET” by Leigh Radford. The leg warmers turned out really pretty because they have a little lace at the top. They’re a little tight on me, however, so if I make another pair, I’ll add more stitches to make them a little bigger.

One more project to talk about is a little purse I’m making from wool yarn. I’m going to felt it. This will be my first felted project. A gal a work knitted the same purse and she’s finished hers. She said it felted beautifully and she’s very happy with the way it turned out. This is from a freebie pattern leaflet that was hanging in the yarn dept. at Wal-Mart. It’s from Lion Brand yarn and it’s called simply Wool Felted Bag. I’m making mine in blue and red. I’ll let you know next week how it turned out.

That’s it for now. I hope I’ve inspired you to do a little knitting! Until next week, keep those needles clicking! Barb
