Monday Morning Meme

By barb56

This is a Monday Morning Meme that my #1 Daughter puts on her blog Write From Karen every week. I thought it might be fun to “play” this week.

August 18th Questions:

1. You have a huge final project that is due in six weeks. When will you actually begin it? In other words, are you the sort of person who gets things done right away, or do you wait until the last minute? Why is this?

If we’re talking about the present time, I would start it at the time I found out that I needed to do it. The older I get, the less I like to get stressed out about “projects”. I know, people who know me will think I’m dreaming in Fantasy Land, especially when Fair time rolls around. Well, just because it “appears” that I’m waiting until the last minute, I really have more control over it than it looks. Trust me, it’s a LOT better now than it was, but I still need to improve. (Who doesn’t?)

2. How often do you clean your house? (Be honest!) Do you think you’re a good housekeeper? Does your significant other think you’re a good housekeeper? Does your significant other ever thank you for cleaning house? No one likes to clean, but what is the one thing you don’t mind cleaning?

I need to clean some things everyday, not that they get it everyday. (I tend to get side-tracked with my crafts once in a while.) My housekeeping is divided into three parts: everyday cleaning, once or twice a week cleaning, and once or twice a year cleaning. I won’t elaborate because I’m sure you all know what falls into these catagories. When I clean, however, I usually do a good job. The message my mother always gave us was, “If you’re going to do something, do it good the first time.” She was a bit of a perfectionist also and picked our work to pieces. We had to do it over if it wasn’t good enough to please her. Consequently, we learned to do it right the first time! So yes, I think I’m a good housekeeper. Yes, my hubby thinks I’m a good housekeeper and thanks me on a regular basis for all that I do. I don’t mind cleaning the kitchen, because I really like a clean kitchen. But I don’t mind cleaning anything once I get into it. In fact, I tend to get carried away especially on those yearly cleanings. But I LOVE a clean house and everything in it’s place again.

3. Fill in the blank: I can’t believe you _______________! Now tell us the story behind this sentence (WHY did you fill it in the way you did?)

I can’t believe you (hubby) love me as much as you do! I’m a very different person than my hubby in many ways. We have a lot of the same philosophies of life, but our personalities are what’s different. He’s a very serious, somber, reasonable kind of person and I’m an emotional, graphic, silly, childlike, (I could go on, but you get the point) person. I wonder how he’s put up with me for almost 44 years! “They” say opposites attract and, in this case, I believe it’s true.

4. Be honest, how many times do you hit the snooze button? What time do you get up during week days? What time do you typically get up on the weekends? Are you a good sleeper? If so, why? If not, why not?

never hit the snooze button! What a waste of energy! When it’s time to get up, then get up, for Pete’s Sake. I work at an outside job and I have to be there at 5 am. So I get up at 3am because I NEED to have some tea and wake up before I hit the shower. (There have been times when I’ve had to jump in the shower as soon as I get up. NOT GOOD. I HATE when I have to do that!) My “weekends” are  during the middle of the week. I usually wake up around 4am, but I force myself to try to go back to sleep. By 6am or so, I’m wide awake so I get up. I hate these hours. I’ll be glad when things change at work (it will be soon, I hope) and I can work evenings again. I like to work evenings.    I’m a good sleeper now. When the kids were small and still at home, no, I wasn’t a good sleeper. Every noise, no matter how small, would wake me up. I can sleep through tornado warnings now. (Yep, that’s happened!) In fact, I sleep in my chair in front of the tv even though I could never understand why my mother did that when I was little!

This was fun! I’ll have to do it again sometime. Hope you enjoyed reading it.
