Well, I had so much fun the first time I did this, I think I’ll give it another go around. It’s a little late because I had to work this morning. Anyway here it is:
1. What are you up to today? Be specific. We’ve talked about your morning routine before, now walk us through a typical Monday for you after breakfast is over. How do you feel about Mondays? A fresh start to your week? Or do you dread the drudge of getting back to the same old routine?
My week is different than most people’s week. My Monday is Fri. and my Fri. is Tues. My weekend is Wed. and Thurs. Are you totally confused by now? So what am I up to today? I’m working from 5 am to 2 pm. When I get home, I usually sit with hubby and we talk about our day. We’ll watch a DVD, usually of a favorite tv show (Star Trek, X-files, etc.) while we have a bite of lunch. I will have gone to sleep before the show is over. (Hey, getting up at 3 am is hard on this old woman!) I get up after my nap and try to get a little cleaning done, wash dishes, etc. but this doesn’t happen very often. Most of the time I wonder around like a zombie. I hate these hours! (Have I mentioned this before?)
Yes, I dread the drudge of getting back to the same five early mornings again. Ahhh, retirement — so close, but yet so far away!
2. Earworms – we all get them from time-to-time. What tune do you have stuck in your head at the moment? How important is music to your life? List some of your favorite songs – and I’m talking about songs that evoke a strong emotion in you; joy, anger, sadness, etc. Do you have one particular song that brings back a certain time period in your life? What is the song and what is the time period?
I’m listening to Enya in my car right now. One of their tunes will stick in my head so badly sometimes that I can’t sleep. It drives me crazy! I’ll have to turn the radio on softly when I go to bed just to drown it out of my head. I can’t imagine life without music in it. I love music. I used to listen to it all the time. Then hubby started working at home. Now I just play my tunes or listen to the radio in my sewing room or shop. Or car.
My favorite tunes? There’s so many! Donna Fargo’s The Happiest Girl in the Whole U.S.A. always makes me happy. Bette Midler’s The Wind Beneath My Wings inspires me. Alan Jackson’s Where Were You When the World Stopped Turning makes me sad, and Randy Travis’s Forever and Ever, Amen and Josh Turner’s The Longer the Waiting, The Sweeter the Kiss makes me feel romantic. I think I love the love songs the best.
Old tunes and songs bring back memories of my younger days. When I hear a certain song, Downtown sung by Petula Clark for example, it brings back memories of when Hubby and I first got married and he moved me to the East Coast to be with him for the remaining time he had left in the Army. They played that song on the radio ALL the time. I appreciate music and singers with beautiful voices.
3. Who have you needed to say thank you to lately? Who is this person and what did he/she do to prompt a thank you?
I don’t think I NEED to say thank you to anyone. Not a day goes by that I don’t thank someone for something. I say “thank you” as easily as I breathe. And it’s not just empty words. I really do mean it when I say it. I appreciate people and what they do that involves me and I want to thank them for it.
4. How many candles will be on your birthday cake this next birthday? What do you think about the age you are now? Are you comfortable with what you’ve accomplished in life so far? Or do you wish you could have achieved more? You’re being granted one birthday wish – what is it?
Wow, do we have to go there? Oh well, it’s just a number, right? I’ll be 62 on my next birthday which is next month. That sounds old, but I don’t feel old. I’ve enjoyed getting older. Not the physical part because I’m sharing my body with old man Arthur more and more. But I like the wisdom, experience and patience that has come with getting older. I haven’t accomplished a lot in my life as far as becoming someone important or inventing something miraculous, but I’ve accomplished what I’ve always wanted to do — being a wife and mother. So I guess that’s a lot to me. My birthday wish? I don’t really need or want too many material things. I guess I wish that I’ll have many more birthdays!
