A SIL Site

March 30, 2010

My sister-in-law just sent me the link to her new ETSY shop. She makes pillows and wants to add some quilts later. She’s always had a flair for decorating and these pillows are an example of her talent. Be sure to check it out. And be sure to read the descriptions.

Another Link

In honor of March Craft Month, here’s another link to an awesome craft site. If you’ve heard of You Can Make, then you may already know about their new web site, “The DIY Dish”  This is their premier video. Be sure to check it out.

I just got through watching the video and it’s sooooo cool! The little pincushions are as cute as can be. AND they’re giving away some neat gifts too if you want to go to their blog and make a comment. I’ll be watching them every week so see what new things they come up with!

March is National Craft Month

March 14, 2010

I knew this. I just can’t believe that this month is half over already and I’ve not said anything about it being National Craft Month. (I guess I’ve been a little more obsessed with Farmville than I thought to forget about crafts!)

Joanne’s Fabric and Craft Stores site is honoring past crafts this year. The site is called Decades — Looking Back to Now.  You’ll have to check it out. It’ll be interesting in the coming months to see what they feature.

Remember tie-dye? That’s what Joanne’s featured in Feb. with a scarf and Valentines.  I remember when my four oldest grandsons were young and still liked to humor their old Grandma. I had them tie-dye their own shirts for the 4th of July a couple of times. We didn’t do it the traditional way. I wet their shirts down a little, then let them spray colored paint onto their shirt. The paint would spread and looked like it took a lot more time to create than it took. Then they added more embellishments to make the shirts unique to themselves. It was a fun summer project and I think they actually enjoyed themselves! I wish I had a picture to share with you all and I’m sure I have one somewhere deep in the recesses of my photo albums. (That was before my digital camera.) But it would take me the rest of the day to find it, scan it, and get it put on here. (I have a LOT of photo albums!) Maybe one of these days. . . . . . . .

Christmas in Feb.

March 13, 2010

I’ve mentioned a few blog entries ago about how some of our family couldn’t be with the rest of us on Christmas. Namely the kids in KC. They had a blizzard Christmas Eve day. For one reason or another, we haven’t been able to get together with them until the last of Feb. Our son and DIL  had the chance to go to Las Vagas and needed a babysitter. Guess who they called? Grandma and Grandpa of course. We went up on a Mon., got to have our Christmas with them that evening, son and DIL left the next day, and we had the kids for two and a half days. What can I say!?! We had a great time with them. I forget sometimes how much fun a six and three-year old can be. Here’s a few pics of our Christmas:

The boys were so good and we had some great bonding time with them. We don’t get to see them as often as we’d like. So we take advantage of times like these.

Farmville Addition

March 11, 2010

I have to apologize for neglecting my blog this past month. I’ve been hit by the Farmville bug! I like to play games, but I don’t usually get obsessed by them. This one, however, has obsessed me! I can start playing this game and before I know it, two, three, or even four hours later my shoulders start getting stiff. Then I realize how much time I’ve wasted spent on this stupid little (fun) game. I get so excited when I find an uncommon collectible, or win more gold to go in my pot of gold!

Well, it’s time to get back to my life. I’ve set limits to my time to play. Hopefully I’ll have the will-power I need to stick to it. Sooooo, I should get back to some regularity on my blog.
